This video series answers the questions:
How is the precious resource of water managed in our cities? Farm fields? Neighborhoods? How are we being good stewards of it now and planning for what’s ahead? It wasn’t in a classroom, but Harris and Griffin Duininck got schooled on the resilience of plastic water management products and why they are key to a resilient and sustainable future.

Resiliency (ri-zil-yuhns-ee): To be able to withstand or rapidly recover from a disruptive event or stressor.

Follow our journey

The boys started their journey where Prinsco began, in the small town of Prinsburg, Minnesota. They learned how plastic pipe is manufactured and how Prinsco takes something that has no value and gives it value.

From Prinsburg to Kansas City, Missouri… home of the Chiefs and great BBQ, along with some torrential downpours. They caught up with Dan Currence, Plastics Pipe Institute Director of Engineering - Drainage Division, to learn how plastic pipe builds resiliency into water management systems.

Heading back north, the boys are back to the familiar turf of Minneapolis where they visit two projects that showcase how plastic products are part of a resilient solution for managing stormwater and recharging groundwater.

Hopping state lines over to Kansas City, Kansas, the boys learned how stormwater chambers are installed under parking lots to maximize land use, manage water quality, and recharge the groundwater.

A hop, skip and a jump away is Minot, North Dakota, where the boys get a lesson in managing residential wastewater with plastic chambers

The boys' next stop is Fargo and the Red River Valley to learn how plastic pipe is used to help farmers increase crop health, maintain consistency and increase yields.

Next, they go to the Great Salt Lake, where water detention is the talk of Salt Lake City, Utah. There they learn that the resilience of plastic products is an effective tool in managing fluctuating temperatures and water storage needs.

On the road again, the boys take a side trip to Columbus, Ohio, where they learn how plastic foundation drainage products save time, money, and improve water quality.

Heading south… weather is the hot topic in Phoenix, Arizona, where reducing labor hours in the heat and keeping up with increased water regulations is the focus.

Have you ever wondered what’s buried beneath our roads, parking lots and neighborhoods? Do you ever wonder or even worry about how water is being managed, especially during serious weather events? That’s what two Gen Z college students set off to discover for themselves… on an epic road trip across the US

Their adventure took them from Fargo to Salt Lake City, from Minneapolis to Phoenix and beyond. After thousands of miles and dozens of conversations with engineers, industry leader, academics, construction contractors, sales reps and manufacturing experts, they learned that what’s buried beneath needs to be all about resiliency.

Meet the Boys

Griffin Duininck

Griffin Duininck is a senior majoring in Business Management at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. After graduation, he plans to caddy for a summer in Vail, Colorado before embarking on his business career. He enjoyed expanding his knowledge of Prinsco this past summer and getting to know his cousin better along the way. And while the best part of the trip was the education, he also had fun sneaking into an unnamed football stadium to get a look at their field… to see if the water was being managed properly, of course.

Harris Duininck is a sophomore majoring in Economics at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Harris plans to travel, go to grad school or enter the business world after graduation. During the road trip, Harris enjoyed seeing how water was managed differently across the country, especially in the desert. He also honed his driving skills considerably during the summer since he was behind the wheel 99% of the time while Griffin pretended to be a professional golfer.
